In F1 in Berlin, our LETS team was able to get involved together and get involved socially.
that F1 is an open and inclusive district center on Mehringplatz in Berlin. It offers space for neighborhood encounters, a wide range of leisure activities and advice and support services for people from difficult backgrounds. The aim of F1 is to be a place of participation for all residents and to promote neighbourly cooperation.
Together, we sorted out the warehouse, carried out a thorough inventory and brought order to the clothing room — all activities to make the upcoming move smooth as part of the renovation work.
K: “We were warmly welcomed and immediately received a brief introduction to the tasks, responsibilities and goals of F1. This gave us a quick insight into the work of the institution and our own activities for the day. The tasks were clearly distributed so that everyone knew where to get started. We were able to warm up over a cup of tea or coffee and immediately got into conversation with the other volunteers — the result was an open and friendly atmosphere that made it easy to get started with the commitment.”
In small teams, we set out to search through cupboards and dressers that had accumulated countless craft materials, decorations and board games. With great dedication, we sorted and categorized the stocks, while the inventory kept the entire team on their toes. The idea quickly emerged to optimize the process with AI support in order to make recording and writing down more efficient. We became aware of how well we could contribute our professional skills to volunteering — an exciting moment that showed that our skills also create real added value outside of everyday working life. Despite the intensive work, we had a lot of fun — and it was motivating to see how more structure came into the camp with every hour.
