Together with the Bund Naturschutz, you can make a meaningful contribution to our nature on September 19 by taking part in a care campaign for various areas of Freising Moss!
The moss is a treasure just outside Freising and a popular recreation area. It provides habitat for numerous animal species and stores huge amounts of CO2 With its layers of peat, it acts like a sponge that holds back floods and serves as a water reservoir.
All participants support meadow mowing with the help of our local contact person, who familiarizes you with the respective task and is always available to answer any questions you may have. Litter meadows are mostly wet and nutrient-poor meadows whose clippings are only suitable for extracting litter for stables due to their low energy content. There was no fertilization, mowed once a year in late autumn.
Working without big machines requires lots of helping hands. Divided into groups, you will receive an introduction to the upcoming tasks, tips on mowing with a hand scythe and partial removal of Freising moss. Mowing creates free, open bodies of water, which are a food and/or reproductive biotope for aquatic insects, amphibians and mammals in particular.
IMPORTANT: Please wear long work clothes and sturdy footwear as well as mosquito and sun protection if necessary. Also pack enough water for breaks. In torrential rain, the meadow cannot be mowed and we offer you an alternative project (information until 13.09.). The number of participants is limited to 15 people.
Das Projekt ist leider schon vorbei
