Jana, Elisa & Bettina took advantage of the lets offer from their employer and signed up for a social day at the animal shelter in Munich.

The day was full of animal impressions and was a lot of fun for everyone involved. Here they tell us why they signed up for Social Day and what they take away from it.

Why did you participate in the project?

J.: Because I generally like working with animals and have already walked/run dogs in the shelter.

E: Because I think it's great that we can get involved socially and care about animals.

B: I wanted to make use of the LETS offer and the shelter project was recommended to me by a colleague (we wanted to do that together 😊)

What did you particularly like?

J: At the beginning, the nurse took a lot of time to give us an insight into the history of the shelter. He also told us a lot about where the animals come from, etc. In the end, we were allowed to visit the cat & small animal house.

On this day, we dug up 3 dog enclosures and “remade” them. Physical work was a great balance compared to everyday office life.

E: That we got an insight into how much work is being done at the Munich animal shelter, how many animals are currently looking for a new home there and that we have received a lot of information.

B: The appreciative nature of our AP in the shelter, how well we worked together as a group, a nice day outside the office where you could do other activities, great organization

What did you perhaps not like so much?

J: Nothing, everything was fine 😊

E: -

B: Everything was wonderful!

How important is volunteer work to you?

J: I find it very appreciative and great that my company is providing 3 special vacation days for volunteer work.

Volunteering (even in my free time) is very important to me.

E: Very important, I think it's great that my employer offers their employees the opportunity to have a Social Day.

B: Important, I just don't take the time to do this often enough. That's why I find the offer here so great, because you can try out different things and the offer is very low-threshold.

What are you taking away from the project?

J: That I go to animal shelters more often on weekends and walk dogs. And that I'll sign up for the next project right away 😉

E: That many animals are looking for a new home and that the shelter is doing a great job.

B: That I would like to get involved in a project again, how much effort it takes to keep an animal shelter running and how valuable the support of volunteers is.

3 words that best describe your volunteering experience?

J: Positive, Energizing, Grateful

E: Fun, team spirit, networking

B: Fun, entertaining, exhausting 😊

Is there anything else you'd like to get rid of?

J: Thank you! 😊

E: I think every employee should take advantage of the opportunity to participate in a social day. You do something good, get to know colleagues with whom you may not have had any contact yet and can achieve a great deal together.
