Social Day experience report: Support at the Sanctuary

Why did you participate in the project?

I've never participated in a volunteer project before and wanted to try it out. Since animals are very important to me personally, I found the project to support the sanctuary very appealing and wanted to get involved.

What did you particularly like?

You really noticed how much the animals enjoyed being taken care of their stable and enclosure. Although the goats were a bit suspicious, at the latest the horses came to pick up a cuddle or two.

The weather also played in our favor, not too warm, but cloudy without rain. Perfect for strenuous work.

It was also nice to get to know the colleagues a bit better. You may see yourself in the aisle from time to time, but working on a project together across departments brings you closer to each other personally.

What did you perhaps not like so much?

In the meantime, I had the feeling that employees alone could do the work faster and more effectively. That was a bit demotivating.

How important is volunteer work to you?

Since I haven't worked as a volunteer yet, this was my first experience with it and I can imagine asking the estate privately whether they need assistance over the weekend.

What are you taking away from the project?

How much fun physically demanding work can be and the joy of having helped the animals a bit.

Is there anything else you'd like to get rid of?

It's great that we have the opportunity to participate in various social projects through Lets, there is something for everyone! I will definitely sign up for subsequent projects.
